Pushtoon Community Centre For Women (Pccfw)
Charity 1166582
Overview
Summary
Pushtoon Community Centre For Women appears to be a place-based community organisation whose role combines culturally responsive gathering space with practical support during family bereavement. Its formal remit is broader than its stated activity, extending to disadvantaged families’ basic skills and local amateur sport. This suggests a potential community-anchor model in Bordesley Green, though the available evidence shows its clearest current identity is as a centre supporting women through both celebratory and bereavement occasions.

Observations
Bereavement support appears to be its clearest organising function
The available evidence suggests that supporting women around bereavement is not incidental but a central part of the organisation’s practical role. Its activity description and charitable object both point to the centre as a setting for collective support at a vulnerable point in family life.
Why it matters
This distinguishes the organisation from a general community venue: it may hold trusted relationships and cultural knowledge that make it particularly relevant to families experiencing loss.

The centre may operate as social infrastructure, not only a service provider
By accommodating women during both happy and bereavement occasions, the organisation appears to provide a shared community space across major life events. This may indicate that relationship-building and belonging are part of its operating model, even where these are not formally described as services.
Why it matters
Understanding the centre as social infrastructure highlights a possible role in reducing isolation and connecting families to wider support, rather than assessing it only through discrete programmes.

Its formal remit creates unrealised possibilities for broader local partnerships
The charity’s objects span bereavement relief, family literacy and numeracy, and football, cricket and badminton, including support for similar sports charities. This breadth may indicate scope to connect women’s support, family learning and youth activity, although current delivery evidence does not confirm that these strands are active.
Why it matters
The gap between the narrow recorded activity and broad charitable remit is worth exploring: it may reveal underused capacity, dormant programmes, or opportunities for collaboration with learning and sports organisations.
